Faces
Today was so different from yesterday. Yesterday we worked hard doing construction, today was hard on our hearts. We when to an home for the elderly, as well as to a childrens home. Though I don´t think that the word home is a good description. It was more like a prison. Children basically from birth through the ages of elementry school all live in this cement building never able to leave. There parents either brought them there because they were too poor to care for them, or because they are in prision, and in some cases maybe haved died.
We held babies in our arms . . .
. . . babies, maybe 18 in a room, ages birth through maybe 2. Crib after Crib all lined up . . .
. . . babies desparate for love.
We are still processing all of these things. I don´t even know what to write after looking into these children´s faces and wondering what the future will be like for these precious children that God created and loves.
We had one day . . . but it is something you could give your life too.
The team is still all in good health, though I think we are getting tired, and the emotions ran deep today. So we could use prayer that at this time our hearts would continue to be knit together in love, and that we would live and walk in the Spirit.
Tomorrow we are back at the church for another day of construction. Thank you for your prayers.

I've been there...in Vietnam, in Korea, in Indonesia...looking into little faces that will likely never have someone in their lives who cherishes them above all else on earth. you realize the injustice of the world, how we as human beings have botched loving our neighbor as ourselves for the last 2000 years, how much responsibility we as Americans have, because to whom much has been given, much will be required. They may be "statistics" as far as the world is concerned, but to God--and to us--they are infinitely precious and beloved. The answers are different for each of us--I pray that as you meditate, cry, and pray, in time God will make clear His answers to you all individually.
Please tell Brian N. "Happy Birthday and love ya" tomorrow, I rejoice that he was born, that he is in God's family and in our lives.
Just thinking of the quote by Dr. Bob Pierce, founder of World Vision..."Let my heart be broken by the things that break the heart of God."
Wow - thanks for helping us feel a bit like we're right there with you.
Keeping you guys all in prayer for emotional, physical and spiritual rest and peace. You can't make much difference in a whole world of need...but you can make a WORLD of difference in one life...or two...or three...
Jon, you and the whole team are in our prayers! -- The TFB Men's Prayer Team
"O Sovereign Lord! You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power. Nothing is too hard for you!" Jer. 32:17
I know the feeling. We got to visit a breakfast program in a village in Mexico. Much saddness and much hope.
Thanks for the encouragement.
And BTW, the ladies of the church made Brian one of the best Birth day cakes I have had in there little stove. It rocked, and Brian had a great Birthday!
